I still think this is one of the best mechanics Zen Studios has used in any of their pinball tables. Each of the different balls receives different multipliers, bonuses and modes. You are able to select a ball that represent different Avenger characters - Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, and Hawkeye. “Avengers” from the “Avengers Chronicles” pack is a laid out very well and introduces an interesting new game mechanic. Looking back now at this table it was a sign of things to come and really raised the bar in terms what pinball fans could come to expect. It has a fairly simple layout, yet is one of the first tables I can remember playing where the missions told a story. In my opinion, it is one of the most underrated tables that Zen Studios has ever made. The “Moon Knight” table is part of the “Vengeance and Virtue” table pack.

This is probably the most difficult Top 10 list I have ever written, but also, the most rewarding. Let me rectify that grave injustice and offer up my personal Top 10 list of Pinball FX2 tables.

I have written a lot of reviews for Pinball FX2 table packs and individual tables over the years, but I have never made a definitive list of just which tables are my favorites. In 2014, Pinball FX2 made the leap to the Xbox One and quickly became one of my most played games with over 100 hours played across 60 some different tables. Everything I enjoyed from the original was there, but now the tables were bigger and more complex than I had ever imagined. In 2010, Pinball FX was given a second iteration on Xbox 360 - Pinball FX2. I still remember the first time I played the “Buccaneer” table and beat my friend’s score. From the time I first played Pinball FX some eight years ago, I was hooked. My early memories of roaming arcades looking for a table, getting my initials on it and checking back to see if anyone had beaten me have lead to recent times, where I’ve fallen head-over-heels for virtual pinball. For me, the simple arcade game has infused itself into many different aspects of my life. I’m pretty much over the tights-and-capes tables, but I thought the layout and mechanics of that Power Girl table were a blast. To know me is to know my love of pinball. That one? Not the Black Widow one, but the other one.

Hey, did you try those two Women of Marvel tables? I love the speed on the coffee shop table, the one with, uh, I think her name is Power Girl? Squirrel Girl shows up. I really like both tables, and it’s a blast progressing through the different dragon battles, but my personal preference is leaning a bit toward Epic Quest at this point. Again, maybe it’s just that I don’t know the Skyrim table as well as the Epic Quest table. Having to hold the launch button to pause the table, holding up both flippers to move around in the menu, and all to drink a potion that gives me +25% armor for 60 seconds? Yikes.Įpic Quest feels more like a pinball table, whereas Skyrim feels like another branded Zen add-on. I’m not convinced all that detail in the Skyrim table works. The way combat works, the way you set up specific enemies, the magic system, the simplicity and immediate feedback for gear. Now I really miss some of the things in Epic Quest. I went back to Epic Quest after getting my elf mage up to level 11 in Skyrim. It’s certainly more detailed, but I’m not quite willing to say better than Epic Quest.

Since you level a character who is persistent, and can even equip stuff on your character! This makes sense, as they’ve been building this damn game for 5 years now, and probably got better at making the tables as they went.Īlso my initial take on Skyrim is that it’s a better, more interesting Epic Quest. V-12 I am looking at you.Īnother trend I noticed: a lot of the earliest Zen tables aren’t great (with the exception of Sorcerer’s Lair), and probably should be avoided in favor of their later tables. There is definitely some consensus on tables that get a lot of love, and some that are clearly awful. Super League Football gets accolades and that’s literally the only table I don’t have so I need to jump on that one.
